Koutermolen

The Koutermolen is a wooden post mill, originally from the 18th century, which has been rebuilt four times. It is located in the provincial domain De Gavers in Harelbeke. The mill has been recognized as a monument since 1944. The original Koutermolen was established in the second half of the eighteenth century by Pieter Gheysens. It was the first mill in Stasegem, first mentioned on a map from 1788 created by surveyor P.C. Steur in connection with the paving of the road from Harelbeke to Zwevegem. The mill was located to the right of the street and was later mentioned in a cadastre as an oil mill. The original mill site was about 300 meters south of its current location, where the playground of Chiro Stasegem is now located.
