The Maarkebeek Valley is a valley in the Flemish Ardennes in South-East Flanders and the name of the recognized nature reserve in this valley. The valley of the Maarkebeek is mainly located in the municipality of Maarkedal and partly in the municipalities of Horebeke, Oudenaarde, Ronse, and Vloesberg. It is a typical Flemish Ardennes landscape with rolling hills and deeply cut little valleys. The valley, together with its tributaries Pauwelsbeek and Nederaalbeek, forms the natural connection between the witness hills of the Flemish Ardennes and the valley of the Upper Scheldt. The source of the Maarkebeek is located in the Walloon Region. The central part extends over the municipality of Maarkedal. The Maarkebeek, Pauwelsbeek, and Nederaalbeek all spring from the north side of a hill ridge that stretches east-west from the Kruisberg via the Muziekberg to the Hoppeberg. The N8 runs along the interfluve north of the Maarkebeek Valley.
