Command bunker Kemmel

Descend into an ultra-secret command bunker of the Belgian Armed Forces, the nerve center of the high command during the Cold War. The bunker, built in the early 1950s, was intended as the command post for an international air defense system. However, it will never fulfill that function. In the early 1960s, the high command of the Belgian Armed Forces decides to set up the bunker as a command post in case of exercises, crises, or conflicts. After the Cold War, the bunker stands empty. The Royal Museum of the Armed Forces and Military History is tasked with preserving this unique piece of military heritage and making it accessible to the public. Open on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm (last visit at 4 pm). The number of visitors is limited to 49 people! Duration of the visit: approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
