Located in a landscaped park with large bodies of water, trees and shrubs, walking paths, and green spaces, the d'Aertrycke castle in Torhout is quite photogenic. It was August de Maere, a member of parliament and the spiritual father of the port of Zeebrugge, who had it built in 1871. Today, it houses a high-end culinary restaurant. Further in the castle grounds, you will find a cozy bistro in the former coach houses.
