The drawbridge of Aguesses is located not far from the dock of the Ourthe canal. Also known as the Marcotty drawbridge, it reminds us of the presence of an old mill that used to be located on the Aguesses stream and was filled in at the beginning of the 20th century.
This remarkable painted metal structure was built in 1852. It consists of a movable deck partially made of wood that can be lifted and operated by hand. This mechanism makes this drawbridge a unique example in the province of Liège. At the edge of the bridge, the sloped quay walls made of large limestone blocks are interspersed with limestone piers topped with a painted metal handrail. The lockkeeper's house is visible in the immediate surroundings of the drawbridge.
Classified as a monument on May 20, 1983.
