On the western flank of the Lettenberg, there are four concrete shelters, cast on a formwork of corrugated sheets. They are probably interconnected by a tunnel system. In Kemmel, you can visit the bunkers of the Lettenberg, a foothill of the Kemmelberg. Towards the end of 1916, British Engineers and Tunnelers began excavating underground headquarters on the Kemmelberg (the main British observation post). Between April 4 and the end of May 1917, the 175th Tunneling Company worked under the Lettenberg on a headquarters. The concrete bunkers providing access to this were cleared in 2004. There are five shelters made of reinforced concrete, cast in coarse gravel on the corrugated sheets, each with one access point and a window opening on the west side. You can visit the bunkers via a walking path with information panels. One bunker is set up as a shelter for bats. Access is free.
