Georges-Jozef Imschoot Square

At the Georges-Jozef Imschoot Square lies the municipal culture and recreational hall Guldepoort.

In the center of the square stands a colored concrete structure designed by artist Roger Raveel. A similar structure is also located at the beginning of the intersection of the N43 with the Dorpsstraat and at the Roger Raveel Museum.

On the side of the square stands a poem by the Dutch poet-writer Gerard Reve. Gerard Kornelis van het Reve lived in Machelen-aan-de-Leie from 1993 until his death in 2006. His poem "Credo" from 1968 was integrated into a work of art in copper letters. This five-meter-long wall stands on the side of the Georges-Jozef Imschoot Square. Behind this, lies the garden of Villa ter Ide and the studio of artist Martin Wallaert.
