Description

Bütgenbach Dam was built in 1932. Its primary function is to control the dam's principal water intake, the Warche, which is one of Belgium's most capricious rivers. The reservoir lies between the villages of Bütgenbach and Berg. There is a power station at the foot of the dam. I

n the 1950s there was a small camp-site in Worriken, on which today's sports and leisure centre now stands. The idyllically located lake, with its beautiful 11 kilometre circular path, is a destination much favoured by tourists for excursions, thanks to bathing and water-sports facilities, and not least its unspoilt natural scenery and endemic species.
