Calixberg Castle

Calixberg Castle is a castle in the Antwerp municipality of Schoten, located at Borgeindstraat 274 and Calesbergdreef 5-15.Since the 11th century, the Castle of Schoten stood here where the lords of Schoten lived until 1438. The castle burned down and the remains were covered with a hill. At the beginning of the 17th century, a new castle was built slightly away from the original castle. From the 3rd quarter of the 17th century until 1700 it belonged to the Schoyte family, then to the Della Faille family until 1741. Subsequently, the de Pret and du Bois van Nevele families became the owners. In 1892 the castle came to the Van Praet family. After that, families became Bunge and Bracht the owners.
