Hayesbos and Verrebeek valley

The Hayes forest is part of the Livierenbos, which is located on the witness hill that is characteristic of the Flemish Ardennes. The core of the Livierenbos is located in Vloesberg (Hainaut). The Hayesbos is located in Flanders, on the northern slope of the Livierenbos. The Verrebeek rises in the Livierenbos, on the Walloon territory. Most of the tributaries originate in the springs in the forest edge of the Hayes forest. The strongly meandering spring stream has a strong decline and comes north of the Hayes forest in an area characterized by grasslands rich in woody plantings on plot boundaries. The valley of the Verrebeek is a semi-open landscape rich in KLE's (small landscape elements). The open agricultural area Doensberg lies east of the valley and north the Hayes forest.
