Church Sint-Henricus

National Highway No. +32. Church of St. Henricus. Parish church built in 1939 to a design by architect Willem Nolf (Torhout). It was put into service during the Second World War. Landscaping, bas-relief Saint-Christopher and Lourdes grotto around the church (cf. infra, Rijksweg z.nr.). Hall church on rectangular plan, porch and tower placed to the north. Yellow brick volume under steep gable roof (slates). Narrower choir bays closed by versatile apse. To the south-west, an imposing sacristy adjoining the nave and choir. Closed tower volume with perpendicular buttresses. Bell storey with rectangular reverberation holes, parapet, blunt spire with weathervane. Round-arched portal in a belted frame. Gable on the north finished with roof and wickerwork, cross crowning, linked round-arched windows (stained glass). The bays of the nave and the choir are rhythmed by narrowing buttresses, coupled round-arched windows. Interior: plastered and white-painted hall church with rhythmic belt arches.
