Oudenaardsesteenweg number 566. A defining and imposing country house known as "Kasteel d'Heye". Located amid a park along the street bounded by a whitewashed brick wall on a plinth. The wall is rhythmically punctuated by buttresses. A lined mouse tooth frieze. Central gate with a basket arch passage to the house in the park (number 568). According to the cadastral data, several buildings were demolished in 1860 and a new volume was erected. In 1896, 1910, and 1912, the building was systematically expanded. In 1957, the castle was converted into a shoe factory by the Cnudde brothers from Berchem (East Flanders). In 1965, the property was expanded to its current volume. Eclectic building with elements of Neoclassicism cf. rectangular and evenly constructed volume with emphasized central risalit. Slate mansard roof interrupted by dormers. Cemented face with false joints on a gray-painted plinth. Rectangular wall openings with renewed frames (plastic). Central polygonal tower under a pear-shaped roof. The tower is already depicted in a drawing by Serafijn Vermote (1812-1815) and was integrated into the then new construction in 1860. Transversely planted gardener's house (concierge residence?). Double house resembling the English cottage style cf. frieze in pseudo-timber and the central bay with open frame. Large rectangular windows; windows with small divided panes.
