St. Michael's Church is the parish church of the West Flemish town of Zuienkerke, located on the Nieuwe Steenweg.
Zuienkerke probably became an independent parish in the 10th century. This split off from that of Sint-Andries, which in turn split off from the parish of Snellegem. Around 1100 the chapter of St. Donatian's in Bruges acquired the right of patronage. Initially, there was a simple auxiliary church of the parish of Uitkerke, and around 1300 a late Romanesque basilical cruciform church was built, the base of which has been preserved. At the end of the 13th century, the church was rebuilt in the Gothic style. When the religious wars broke out around 1570, the church was destroyed. In the 17th century, the church was restored. From 1615-1618, the choir and sacristy were restored in Baroque style. In 1627 the tower was restored. In 1698, the entire western part of the church, which was in a dilapidated state, was demolished. The crossing tower now became a west tower.
