One of the curiosities of Schilde is the communal estate of Schildehof. This is the grounds of a historic castle offering various attractions: a park with a pond, a vast forest area, an orangery, landscaped gardens, etc. The estate includes, among other things, the Dodoenstuin, a reconstruction of the sixteenth-century Renaissance garden with plants from the Cruydeboeck (from 1554) by Rembert Dodoens. The Dodoenstuin extends over the vegetable garden of Baron Van de Werve's castle. Twelve small gardens are surrounded by yews, like the Beguinage of Breda with its twelve small beguines. There is also a bee garden and a natural park featuring about ten different landscapes.
