Ten Bogaerde

Abbey farm Ten Bogaerde is an outfarm of the former Dunes Abbey in the Belgian town of Koksijde. The building was protected in 1952. Traditionally, a donation from 1148 by the brothers Cath to the Dunes Abbey is considered the basis for this large outfarm, but this is very uncertain. The first mention of "Bongart" dates back to 1183. Ten Bogaerde would grow into one of the large outfarms and the outfarm that was closest to the abbey. Thus, the powerful abbey had outfarms in Oostduinkerke and especially Synthe. Under Abbot Nikolaas van Belle, a storage barn was built here in the thirteenth century, now the largest preserved barn of the Dunes Abbey, measuring 67.5 m × 22.5 m.
