This small green haven for cyclists and walkers in the Woluwe valley is an old railway line. Trains travelled on this track for almost a century, between 1882 and 1970.
The track connects the Brussels’ Leopold district with Tervuren. In fact, in 1931, this was even the country’s very first electrified track. The trail is now part of the ‘Groene Wandeling’ (Green walk), a walking and cycling tour of over 60 kilometres through many parks, woods and nature areas around Brussels.
Continue following the railway line. After the idyllic green zone you end up in a confusing collection of offices, retailers, homes and public transport. Development plans by the Brussels Region are to turn this into a harmonious whole in the coming years.
