Rodebergstraat - 8950 Loker
At the refuge island at the foot of the Rodeberg in Westouter, there is a piece of art. A steel construction with doves at its center. It is called “Five Doves on a Pollarded Tree.” The dove was an important messenger during the war, but in peacetime, it symbolizes peace and happiness. The doves rest on a tree trunk that has been pollarded by the war. The artist is Lilli Willemsen from Wijtschate. The side represents the undulating character of the municipality of Heuvelland. It is placed on an oval measuring 1.45 meters and is 3.75 meters tall.
