Sint-Niklaas is a railway station located in Sint-Niklaas, The Netherlands. It is the junction of two railway lines, track 54 to Mechelen and railway line 59 to Antwerp and Ghent. In the past, the station was also the terminus of railway line 56 to Grembergen. This line has been broken up,
On 6 November 1844, the first connection was built between Vlaams Hoofd station on the left bank of the Scheldt and Sint-Niklaas station in single track. Three years later the line was extended in the other direction to Gent-Waas station, This railway line, line 59, had a track gauge of 1151mm instead of standard gauge until 1897. In 1870, railway line 54 was opened and then connected Mechelen with Terneuzen via the city. The original station building was built in the 19th century, with the station square in front of it. The building was then located on the western side of the square. With the arrival of the railway lines and the station, a new district was built, the station district. The Stationsstraat is the main street of that district and connected the station building with the Grote Markt.
