The Aanwijs car park was built in the 1970s and chosen by the partners of the Bulskampveld landscape park as the gateway to the forest area, which receives 200,000 visitors a year. The Flemish Agency's (VLM) design plan for Wildenburg-Aanwijs gave the car park and its surroundings a more contemporary look.
On September 25, 2021, the renovated Aanwijs car park was inaugurated. There is a plaza with seating and picnic benches and a building with restrooms and information boards. The building has a canopy where they can be sheltered from the rain or the bright sun.
On the roadside, nun Duponcheel has put up a piece of graffiti art on behalf of the province.
The car park can be used to visit the Vagevuurbos and the nearby Lippensgoed-Bulskampveld . With 540 hectares, they form the largest forest complex in West Flanders. Bruds, ponds, pine and fir trees adorn the landscape. Various animals, from amphibians to birds and mammals, find their way to this green oasis. The Vagevuurbos and the Bulskampveld are part of the Bulskampveld landscape park.
