This former monastery 'de hoop' from 1884 also contained a school. Since 1938 there has also been a Lourdes Grotto in the former vegetable garden of the monastery.
The boys and girls were neatly separated by a wall. In 1913 it fell into disrepair and was replaced by a low wall with iron gates. The boys and girls could now see each other... In 1970, this wall and fences were demolished and replaced by a white line... It took another ten years before boys and girls could play together.
The school closed its doors in 1985.
The city of Tielt, which bought it in 2004, has made the site more attractive from 2022. The visitors center in the chapel is a room for meetings, family parties and workshops. There is also a beautiful brasserie with a pleasant terrace.
The orchard will have a climbing course and tables for picnics.
