The Eternal Spectator - Ostend

Anyone who performs on the Vissersplein, which has been renamed Event Square, always has the security of an eternal spectator .

Since 2000, a bronze sculpture has been secured from its perch on the Vissersplein, which has largely been converted into an amphitheater . And if the title of this track The Eternal Spectator is to be believed, it's not going to leave right away. The figure invites the passer-by to sit next to him and enjoy the spectacle.

On the second highest level of the stairs, a middle-aged bronze man presents us with two empty frames. Don't worry: due to the busy passage of the Visserskaai, the 'Frames' are constantly being interpreted as tableaux vivants : a gift for anyone with a keen telegenic eye and a camera or mobile phone within reach. The two frames of the artwork form an ever-changing backdrop that guarantees the creation of high Instagram content.
