PILGRIM WALK 12KM - Along the basilica of Scherpenheuvel!

The start of the walk is at the parking lot of the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwe basilica in Scherpenheuvel. The dome of the basilica is covered with lead and decorated with 298 gold stars. We immediately walk into the Stations of the Cross, which ensures an original start. When we leave the Stations of the Cross we go via a sloping road with chapels to the basilica. You can visit the well, the candle chapel and stalls with souvenirs and local products. After a few stops at this location we continue our walk. We walk out of the center of Scherpenheuvel. When we are a total of 1.5 km we walk through open meadows in a Hagelands landscape. The next 6 km we walk through this landscape. Through meadows, along hills and nature reserves we make the crossing to Zichem. We are 8 km far when we pass the church of Zichem with the statue of the White of Zichem. From kilometres 8 to 9 we go through the setting of film: the market square, the Maagdentoren, the former Geuzenkerkhof, the Elzenklooster, the watermill and the Demer. We then leave Zichem. When we have about 10 km in total we come back into all open meadows that take us about 2 km back to the parking at the basilica.
