Ostendaise oysters have their origins long before the start of De Oesterput in 1995 .
Millions of the famous Royal d'Ostende were already exported 300 years ago to France, Russia, the Balkan states and the German and Austrian territories. During this period, the Belgian 'Ostendaisen' could not be missing from the menus of the European upper class. Today, De Oesterput is the only nursery that has the original DNA of these gems.
The cultivation technique and the nutrient-rich water yield a well-fleshed, soft salty oyster . One to be really proud of. You can find them today in the better restaurants in Belgium.
