Schiervelde

Let's go back to 2010. Football club KSV Roeselare played that year for the fifth consecutive season in the top division. The club, recognizable by its black-and-white colors, played at the Schierveldestadion, named after the neighborhood of the same name in the west of our city.

At that time, there was talk of mandatory under-soil heating for top division teams. The City of Roeselare and MIROM also made plans to install the heating network under the intersection at the Rijksweg heading towards Schiervelde to warm the football field.

The heating pipe that was ready under the intersection has been of great importance in the further development of the Roobaertpark, part of the Clintonpark, the Heron residential project, Schiervelde, Sportoase, and Expo Roeselare.

• The renovation of the parking lot in 2018-2019 focused on quality green and permeable materials? No less than 15,658 m2 of paving was broken up.
• The solar panels on the roof of Schiervelde control the smart lighting along the bike path by the Mandel? It was the very first bike path in Roeselare with fully sustainable lighting.
• There are 573 linear meters of concrete pipes under the parking lot with a diameter of 120 cm? The pipes serve as a water buffer that collects water during high water levels and allows it to drain into the Mandel.
