Depart from the Veldekenshof, Veldekensweg 1b in Turnhout. With the Veldekenshof at your back, head left. Just past the Stadsboerderij, turn right. After 50 m, continue straight ahead and turn right again after 20 m. At a few trees, turn right; this is not really a clear path. At the concrete road, turn right again. 200 m further, you will reach the starting point where you turn left and follow the Veldekensweg. Then you cross the Heizijde and follow the Elzenstraat. On your right, you will see 'Boones Ven', where the Turnhout bleaching industry began in 1654. In 1804, the last sheets were bleached here. At KN 78, you go straight ahead and continue following the Elzenstraat. 50 m before the Forest Ranger's House, turn left. This house was built in 1841. The maintenance staff of Louis Boone, the great-great-grandfather of Christian Boone who was mayor of Turnhout from 1970 to 1976, lived here. Jef Janssen was the first forest ranger to move in at the beginning of the 1900s.

After 300 m, turn right just before a meadow. At the Peerdsven, turn right. This pond was also part of Boones Blijk in the past. Later, bloodsuckers were even bred here. Horses were led into the pond, where the bloodsuckers would attach and then be collected and sent to hospitals in Paris and London.

Leave the Forest Ranger's House on your right and turn left into the Elzenstraat. Then follow KN 87 and 91. At the Dombergstraat, turn left. Continue along this road until you reach a T-junction where you turn right and follow KN 89, 91 until KN 51.
