Veerle - Brechtser Heath

If you are driving, park in the hamlet of Klein Veerle (Brechts). The first part of the walk mainly leads through a closed forest landscape, while the last part goes through more open agricultural areas (in August rather a 'closed maize crop'). After admiring and comparing the various front gardens in Klein Veerle, you will quickly reach two extraordinarily beautiful nature reserves: Kooldries and Hoofsweer. They are old clay pits that have now been returned to nature. Those who have a lot of energy can use the hiking trail in the nature area (map: http://www.natuurpunt.be/uploads/denatuurin/plannetjes/kaartje_infobord_kooldrieshoofsweer.pdf). The second part of the walk takes you over the (former) Brechtse Heide. Here and there, a solitary heath tree still stands at the edge of the path. In the center of the landscape stands the Trappist monastery as a landmark, which you can admire from all sides. For those who like to follow hiking route points (and for safety): 14- 9 -8 -50 - 46 - 45 - 58 - 57 - 62 - 64 - 42 - 49 - 4 - 5 and back to 14.
