With this walk that starts at Wildenburg in Wingene we explore the woods between Hertsberge and Sint-Pietersveld (Ruiselede).

The agency for Nature and Forest has carried out a lot of works in this region in recent years (2022) and the hiking opportunities through nature have increased enormously as a result. This walk uses new routes that were not possible before.

For those who think the walk is too long: the walk is almost in the shape of an 8, with Wildenburg being the point where the two 'o' meet. It is therefore perfectly possible to do the northern and southern loop separately.

Catering can only be found in Wildenburg and Sint-Pietersveld, but there are many picnic areas along the way, especially in the southern loop.

We start through the forest of Wildenburg and go around the military domain with its many radio masts. We pass the Predikherenbos to brasserie "De Radio". Here are a few sights around the cemetery with chapel and the high radio masts. We are now in the woods of the Gulke Putten.

A little further on, there are also a few sights around the Scheepsput, an ideal stopping point.

We follow the route of Expedition Bulskampveld and arrive at the purgatory forests.

We return to Wildenburg along the forest chapel . The first 10 kilometers are done, good for half of the total walk.

Along the forests of the Vorsevijvers we arrive in the forest Bulskampveld. We now cross the residential area known as the forests of Hertsberge.

We return along the Blauwhuisbeek where a new forest has been planted and return to the starting point along the Blauwhuisbossen .

Be sure to consult the information about the sights once you are on site . They explain what you will see!
