Description by the author

With a spectacular view over the Ourthe and a visit to La Roche !

The route starts at the Hostellerie de la Claire Fontaine (large free car park - restaurant + terrace), but you can of course also start in La Roche .

The good thing about starting the hotel is that you are halfway to La Roche with its shops and restaurants so you can make a day trip with a more extensive visit of the town.

The hike starts at the bridge over the Ourthe and then goes up and down to the Ourthe. The blue route in BTT 2 leads from the bridge to the graveyard (see below). Walk up the N89 where a covered picnic area offers a nice view of La Roche (at least when there are no leaves on the trees).

We cross the N89 and a steep climb , which should not be taken all the way as it leads up to the cemetery on the right. After The descent to La Roche begins along Rue de Cohette. Another mountain bike route also ends here, which is also marked with blue arrows.

After the break in town it's another long climb but at the top you have a picture of a view across the Ourthe valley towards Hotton at the paragliders launch point.

A little further on we turn left towards Beausaint , a town completely destroyed by fire in the second half of the 17th century.

We pass the numerous crosses , chapels, the church and the cemetery. It's amazing how catholic they must be (or were) here...

We leave the village past Beausaint Castle. We are now at the highest point of the trek.

We walk to the Croix de Jérusalem , a wooden cross that was actually carried around Jerusalem, and back.

Soon the descent to La Sâte begins and a little further on you descend a path to the right. A little further the path follows a stream to descend steeply to the N833.

Also, check out the sightseeing information while you're there. They tell you what you can see!
