Esneux - The Falcon Rock

From the center of Esneux, this walk follows the Vieux Thier, a staircase with 156 steps, which for a long time was the only way connecting Mont with the valley. The route then goes through the hamlets of Hony and Méry to finally lead to La Roche-aux-Faucons, a 125 m high cliff with its summit at 205 m above sea level. The famous viewpoint has been classified since 1947 and offers a breathtaking panorama over the bend in the Ourthe. At the top of Roche-aux-Faucons lies one of the region's main sinkholes, the Douve des Eaux Sauvages. The walk then continues through the forest to the former farm of Rosière. The return route runs along the left bank of the Ourthe, via Avenue Montéfiore, where a monument from 1908 commemorates Mrs. Montéfiore-Levy, the lady of the castle of Rond-Chêne and benefactor of Esneux.
