You start with a visit to the Basilica of Our Lady whose dome is encrusted with lead and decorated with 298 seven-pointed golden stars. Then you walk along the railroad bed of "the boemelke," the train that used to run between Scherpenheuvel and Zichem, towards Zichem. Along the way you will come across the Wittemonument, in honor of 100 years of Ernest Claes. On your trip, be sure to climb the Virgo Tower. This structure in typical brown ironstone has been converted into a beautiful watchtower.
