Gerhagen was the first area to receive the quality label 'silence area' from the Flemish government. This silence area consists mostly of forest. In the lower part, there are also meadows and fields. In the area, you can find the ponds of nature reserve Pinnekenswijer and the nature reserve De Houterenberg, with its forests, heath, and drifting sands. At the Bosmuseum Gerhagen, there is an observation tower nearly 19 meters high. Those who dare to climb are rewarded with a splendid view over the entire area.
