This route is inspired by the remarkable story and beautiful podcast het Fortuin Carlier.
The route starts at the train station in Berchem. We then take a small loop to the south until the family Carlier's chapel (do step inside at the Floraliënhof cemetery). Then it goes through the city of Antwerp to reach the green surroundings to the north of Antwerp. This leads to Kasteel Boterberg in Kalmthout (unfortunately not open for visits) where the Carlier family lived.
This sturdy route (perhaps best to set aside two days) with an overnight stay, is ideal with an e-bike.
