Description by the author

We go to Velzeke at the Sint Martinuskerk - one of the oldest Romanesque churches in Flanders - and we immediately turn into the famous Paddestraat, all known from the Tour of Flanders. While passing over the cobblestones of the Paddestraat, we descend to Roborst, then slowly continue to climb towards Rozebeke and Elst. After Elst, we descend for once the Leberg to the village of Zegelsem. Once along the steenweg Brakel - Oudenaarde, we continue on exceptionally scenic roads to just before Schorisse. In good weather, you will certainly imagine yourself in the south of the France. After Schorisse, we cycle via Kerkem / Maarkedal and the descent on the cobblestones of the Taeyenberg towards Renaix. Don't forget to enjoy the wide view. With a big turn, we pass through Nukerke, Zulzeke and the Hotondberg around Ronse to descend to the Land of the Hills. We pedal in a unique and fascinating landscape on sometimes deserted roads through the villages of Wattripont, Ainières, Anvaign, Elligniez-les-Frasnes and Frasnes-les-Buisennal. With a beautiful but not so steep climb we cross the Bois de ... then continue by bike via Lahamaide to Wodecq.
In Wodecq we take direction Vloesberg. Before Vloesberg, we cross the main road to make a difficult climb of about two kilometers to the wood of La Louvière. There we take the semi-paved forest path that descends slowly and crosses the forest for several kilometers towards Nederbrakel. Once past the forest, we take the old miners' path along which thousands of Flemish workers were brought from Flanders to the coal mines of Ronse and beyond. We pedal about ten kilometers on this old railway and at the very end we turn left to pass about 1 kilometer further to several beautiful breweries located around and around an old water mill on the Zwalm. It's worth resting.
From here we return to Velzeke, but this time not along the Paddestraat but along the Sint Antoniuskapel in Knutsegem. Those interested can visit the Gallo-Roman Provincial Museum in Velzeke, others can relax in the brewery 't Romeins Hof, near the church.
