The Famenne

This circuit allows you to discover the typical landscapes of the Famenne, such as the Gerny plateau, a vast agricultural plain.

We go to the Tourist Office and benefit from the beautiful urban renewal that pays a lot of attention to cyclists.

In addition to the network of crossroads that stretches over the city, Marche-en-Famenne is authorized to offer beautiful bike paths, such as the one on Boulevard du Nord.

We leave the city quite quickly and head towards Waillet, in the heart of the depression of Famenne. A little further on you can see many remarkable buildings along the trail, including Aye: a castle farm, a small castle, the Tavys farm... La Famenne also has a rich built heritage.

We cycle north through an area that is truly beautiful under the summer sun. In Humain we see on the Gerny plateau to the east the hills of the Ardennes and to the west those of the Condroz: it seems that we are standing on a spine.

At the end of the route, stop at the Saint-Etienne de Waha church, a special Romanesque building classified as an "important heritage" of Wallonia. Inside you will discover the amazing play of colors of the stained glass windows made by the artist Jean-Michel Folon.

Route type: Roads with little traffic and RAVeL.

Type of bike: STB (Sport & Touring Bike).

Difficulty: A course of difficulties through the countryside of Marches-en-Famenne. Be careful when crossing the N86 National Road to Waha.

Children: From +/- 8 years old.

Departure: At the Maison du Tourisme (exit 27), follow the direction exit 104.

Signs: Follow junctions 104, 103, 110, 109, 107, 32, 31. Leave the network and continue straight until you reach the N86. Cross the road and follow it 100 m to the left. At the traffic lights, turn right towards Waha (bike path). To the left of the church, follow the direction Marche-en-Famenne via rue du Bondeau. Pedal to exit 30 via Rue Saint-Esprit on the right (just after passing the N4). Return to the Tourist Office by junctions 25, 24 and 27.
