Magnificent bike tour through Herve in Aubel (variant of the Abbey of Val-Dieu)

Let yourself be seduced by this bike tour along the RAVeL of the Pays d'Herve, in the heart of the triangle Aachen-Liège-Maastricht. It is a variant up to the Abbey of Val-Dieu

In spring, the flowers of the fruit trees make the land of Herve even more beautiful. This is the dream time to travel the RAVeL Line 38, a green route that was a railway line in the 19th century. For example, trains transported coal from Fléron to Germany and metals from Plombières to the Meuse basin.

Now you can walk the road in peace: nature dominates. Between the hawthorn hedges you will discover groves and orchards. After 14 km of fun, an old diesel couple points out that we are entering Aubel.

We recommend driving from the center to the Val-Dieu site. During the descent we see the bell tower of the Cistercian abbey which was built in 2016 by the monks of the order of Cîteaux. An oasis of peace for every hiker.

Difficulty: 28 km round trip without difficulties. Aubel is 14 km away. This RAVeL is a lot of fun. The variant we propose to reach Val-Dieu is 3.5 km long. From the centre of Aubel, follow the road towards Val-Dieu. There is a bike path along the road.

Departure: The RAVeL is located behind the Tourist Office, Place de la Gare, 1-3 at 4650 Herve.

Signage: Pedal from the Maison du Tourisme on the RAVeL (line 38) to Aubel. You can eat something at Casse-Croûte, a nice bistro.

Parking: Plenty of parking spaces next to the Pays de Herve Tourist Office.
