To the castle of Corroy-le-Château

Parking is available at the Saint-Lambert church in Corroy-le-Château. The walk begins in the rue de la Maison d'Orbais, to the left of the church. You follow this quiet street to the white house 'Les Alouettes' (No. 20) and here you turn right. After about 100 meters, just before the road turns right, take the narrow path to the left (between numbers 3 and 5). Between hedges and fences, you continue to follow this narrow path until you reach a paved road again.

Turn right here and continue to follow the paved road. After a right-angled turn, take the exit on the left a little further, at No. 34. About 50 meters further, at the T-junction, turn right. You now walk between the last houses of the village on the left and an agricultural area on the right. In the distance you can see a wind farm. Continue to follow this route until you reach fishing ponds. This is where the paved road ends. Take the forest road on the left. At the height of a red and white walking sign with the indication "Promenade 1", you continue straight.

Continue to follow this forest road that climbs gently until you reach an area where there is still forest on the right and vast arable land on the left. Keep following the path. In the distance you can see the roofs of the house and the barns of the imposing Ferme de Chenémont. Finally, you reach another paved road, which you follow to the T-junction, just after the Corroy-le-Château wastewater treatment plant. Turn right here, direction Mazy. A little further you cross the Orneau, a tributary of the Sambre. It is best known because a few kilometers further downstream, on the left bank of this river, the caves of the Spy were discovered. The remains of a Neanderthal were found here.

70 meters after the left turn, turn right, into a long straight field road dotted with pebbles. You will continue to follow this route for about 2 km and in the meantime you will enjoy the vast arable land and the 360° panorama. You pass a training ground for guided aircraft. Finally, you reach the Sainte-Anne chapel. Continue to follow the concrete road straight. About 100 meters further, always straight, direction Bothey. This is the rue du Chêne. At the first intersection, at a striking red and white house, turn right, into Rue de la Ronce. You ignore two secondary roads on the left and continue straight, towards Corroy-le-Château.

Soon you leave the buildings and cross a beautiful hollow road. Continue straight until you reach a sign for Corroy-le-Château (2.3 km), Gembloux and Fleurus. Here you leave the asphalt track and turn right into the country road. Via the country road to the T-junction, where you turn left. You walk next to the estate of the castle of Corroy-le-Château.

There are two possibilities now. After about 250 meters, just before two road signs, there is an entrance door to the castle on the right. When it is open, you walk just before the bridge over the moat. From here you can turn left and leave the castle grounds. When the gate is closed, continue to follow the road and after a right-angled turn you reach the other entrance to the castle grounds. This way you also arrive at the castle. After leaving the castle grounds, continue walking towards the church of Corroy-le-Château. You pass a square farmhouse and a little further you are back at the beginning of the walk.
