The hike from Maissin to the famous book village of Redu, with its numerous antiquarian bookstores, combines beautiful and very different natural landscapes with a good portion of (reading) culture. Once threatened by emigration, two local journalists turned the 450-inhabitant village of Redu into a giant book market in 1984. Following the example of the Welsh village of Hay-on-Wye, which has transformed into a single antiquarian bookstore since 1961, you can now find around 20 bookstores in former cow sheds and farmhouses in Redu. Rare comics and German-language book treasures can also be found there. Of course, Redu also offers a great opportunity for a gastronomic break.
