Idyllic tour in Hoegaarden

This wonderful trip to Hoegaarden, the wheat beer village, is a pure pleasure, especially on summer days. It's a walk that offers a lot of variety along the way. After all, these are gentle hills, where you enjoy beautiful distant panoramas from the plateaus again and again. In addition, it runs along scenic hollow roads, country roads, a romantic meadow, sleepy hamlets and difficult cobbled strips. An idyllic tour that takes you through the Rosdel Nature Reserve on the linguistic border between Hoegaarden and L'Ecluse. And after the walk, the famous Hoegaarden Gardens invite you to a visit. In winter, boots are absolutely necessary. Departure at the tourist office.

The itinerary

Past the Kapittelhuys to the Walestraat, direction Jodoigne. Immediately RA, the signs that indicate the walks are suspended in a hedge. Uphill and after the cemetery (left), the concrete road narrows and climbs firmly. On the plateau, you can enjoy a wide view of the fields. The road climbs further on the cobblestones. After 200 m RA (follow green window signage). Still on pavement, you reach an X, LA and immediately steep climb on a concrete path. Always follow the green window. Then go down, on gravel, turn RA. You reach a hamlet, cross a bridge (stream), follow the pavement LA.

Follow RA pavé until you reach the paved road and after 50 m. Almost follow on the split pavement of Los Angeles. Enjoy a beautiful view of the plateau. The concrete road turns into a grassy road. In the distance you can see the tower of the Sint-Gorgoniuskerk in Hoegaarden. At the fence, you walk through a gate into the large RA meadow. There is an information panel (2) of Natuurpunt on this nature reserve. Above the meadow, slightly down at the end LA, through the door and follow the RA path (green window). Through a piece of forest, which looks a lot like a wild nature. Dra you arrive at a wider concrete road, LA. Always straight, after a while of walking, there is a mobile phone mast with a fenced tower on the left. Past the RA mast, concrete path down. Then up and then down abruptly. Be careful, at the level of the LA meadow (follow the Blue Arrow natural gas route).

Along the edge of the forest, turn RA and go down. End of grazing green shutter follow, RA. Down on a sometimes steep wild path. In the end, you will return to civilization. At the end of the paved road follow LA and at house no. 29 (at the end of the street) return LA, paved road steeply climbed about 150 m follow, then RA. At the end of the gravel/dirt road RA, concrete road. We return to the village, chemin 't Egypte. Follow the green window sign straight. About 100 m further in Los Angeles on a narrow paved road. At the end RA through the factory corridor and at T-junction LA, at the end RA and straight on the church and entrance gardens, the end point of this beautiful walk.
