Zwijndrecht--Temse -Zwijndrecht

Cycling route Zwijndrecht – Temse – Zwijndrecht 48.4 km At the roundabout at H. Geesthoek, we take the railway path to the right towards Ghent, on the fast bike lane until Pauwstraat, which we follow to the left. Parmastraat to the right, keep left and follow Dweerse Kromstraat and continue on Priemstraat until we turn left onto Biestraat. Passing the Beverse prison, we cross the E17 on the bridge and continue straight along Galgenstraat. Keeping left at Roos Pap (Café De Voermans Ruhe), we take Hollestraat to the right. Keep left on Warande Street until Burchtstraat on the left, and after 100 m, turn right onto the path with two concrete strips. Follow the castle park on the right until the first path on the right. Go down to the water buffer ponds of Kortbroek and follow the asphalt path to the top on Scheldelei to the Kruibeke-Hoboken ferry dock. Continue straight along the dike path by the Schelde to the Kallebeekveer ferry. Cross over to Hemiksem and now you can follow the junctions (KP): ferry (KP) 70-30-34- take ferry Rupel-31-54-01-02-03 cross Temse Schelde bridge-75-74-86-72 (located at Lange Gaanweg and Wissekerke Castle in Bazel)-we continue along the bike path below the ring dike to-71-at Barbierbeek lock diagonally left down the asphalt path. We follow Houtenkruisdam and turn right at the first street. At the next left (Pater Damiaanstraat) and then shortly after to the right, we cross Bazelstraat to Moortelstraat and follow this until Boerenstraat, which we turn right onto until Molenberg. Turn right there and pass Hazardstraat after 200 m, keep left immediately and follow Doorn until we take Nieuwe Veldstraat straight ahead to Melselestraat and turn left continuing on the E17 until Priemstraat. Turn right and after 50 m, follow Winningenstraat to the left until Dweerse Kromstraat. Turn right and after 150 m, follow Beekmolenstraat to the left until the fast bike lane, which we follow to the right back to our starting point in Zwijndrecht at the roundabout at H. Geesthoek.

This cycling round traverses the Schelde landscape from Zwijndrecht on both the east and west sides with two ferries. The Schelde in Bazel-Hemiksem and the Rupel in Schelle, where we ride a piece along the Nordliches Insel nature reserve. A floodplain with valuable nature, frequented by many waterfowl, especially during the annual bird migrations. Following the canal to Brussels in Wintam, we follow the Schelde waterways along the Notelaer, constructed as a belvedere and hunting pavilion in Hingene. It is open to the public. The unique Schelde landscape with its mudflats and marshes is best appreciated on foot, by bike, or by boat from both banks. We greatly undervalue the natural wealth of a tidal river like the Schelde. Especially since the Schelde has made a steep increase to a healthy and increasingly self-cleaning river over the last fifteen years. This thanks to the many Sigma projects that are being implemented. The increasing tourism in this region testifies to the attraction it holds. The part through the polders of Kruibeke, Mortelstraat, Boerensrtaat, Doorn, still reflects the significance of agriculture on the typical round fields, but also its role for jobs at a time when there was also much poverty in the Waasland. A number of old and beautiful farms are silent witnesses to this.
