This road is in honor of fossil men. Here we follow one of these fossil men, Jozef Agneessens. From Galmaarden, Viane, Herne and Tollembeek, many inhabitants left for Wallonia in the middle of the last century to work in the mines. They were called fossil humans . Pascal Verbeken describes it beautifully in his book Grand Central Belge: "They were foreigners in their own commune and foreigners in Wallonia". He describes how Jozef Agneessens, a resident went daily to the coal mine of Monceau-Fontaine No. 14 of Roux-Souvret near Charleroi. He left at 4am, took his bike to Tollembeek to catch the train at 4.30am. Then by train via Enghien, La Louvière, Piéton, Trazegnies and Roux. Then at 6:40 am on the bike towards Souvret. At 7 o'clock we went down with the elevator shaft. They worked up to three hours. And then back home. This route roughly follows the route of Jozef Agneessens, but it is suitable for motorcyclists.
