The roads of our heritage: 125 km around Bastogne

If the formula for our trips has changed, it was of course no option to do without a beautiful route that can still be downloaded from our website, as before with the BBB. The reason for these pages remains therefore to propose you a pleasant route to ride on a motorcycle.

In our November 2018 issue, the Belle Balade Belge said goodbye not without shedding a tear, with a final trip of 130 kilometers in Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse, from Dinant to Namur. Ending such a popular section was not an easy decision. On the contrary, the simplest scenario for the editorial team would have been to continue offering Belgian routes.

After eight years of faithful service, almost 100 published routes in Moto 80 and, above all, a significant network in Wallonia, Philippe Bonamis and his team began to feel some fatigue with the BBB concept. No fatigue in grabbing the handlebars, I can assure you. But the Belle Balade Belge had clearly "had its time," and it was better to stop before going off track.

A Moto 80 without a tourist route, without an invitation to ride and discover, was never an option for the editorial team. We also noted it immediately in our issue 816: "Motorcycle enthusiasts need not worry, 2019 will still offer you a new section to discover our heritage and our most beautiful roads." This new section, here it finally is, with a name that is obvious: The Routes of Our Heritage.

A trip + a visit

The concept of the Routes of Our Heritage is quite simple: to discover the rich Walloon heritage, which is far too often ignored. Abroad, we do not hesitate to line up visits one after another. In our own country, however, we tend to postpone them to later.

The program of the Routes of Our Heritage is designed to be carried out in one day, with a visit and a motorcycle trip in the immediate surroundings. A day that is both culturally enriching and educational, but also motorcycle-friendly and entertaining. And for those who wish to extend the pleasure with some local gastronomy, we also offer an overnight stay to get back on the motorcycle in top form the next day.
