ALONG OLD RECTANGULAR COURTYARDS AND DEEP HOLLOWWAYS
This hike uses the GR 128 and the GR 512.
The rural Bierbeek is squeezed between the Meerdaal forest and the language border. Geographically, this is a transition zone from Hageland to Dijleland and Brabant Haspengouw. This location guarantees an attractive route: In the first part of this tour, you mainly hike through wooded areas and over ridges. In the second part, you explore deep hollowways and will surely be surprised by the very large and gently rolling fields you walk through. Orchard plantations are also part of the path. The many beautiful old Brabant rectangular courtyards from the 17th and 18th centuries serve as your guide on this hike and testify to the rich history of this region.
