Beautiful varied walk that starts at the church of Veerle. This walk takes you through the Laak valleys, the swampy nature reserve De Roost and the nature reserve De Werft. During wet periods, boots are certainly not an unnecessary luxury. Today 31/05/2020 it is quite dry and the walk can be walked without problems with ordinary footwear.

Laakdal.be writes the following; "The Laak valleys is a collective name for a number of nature reserves in our green municipality. Gradually, those loose pearls are strung together into a natural cord. A large varied valley area where you can enjoy walking. Along the banks of the Kleine Laak are the nature reserves Ossenbroeken, Craeywinkel and Swinnebroeken. Along the Rode Laak you will find De Werft and Peiren. On the banks of the Grote Laak are the nature reserves Trichelbroek and De Roost. These are mainly swamp fields as a result of the former peat extractions and iron ore mining. The Varenbroek area is in line with the vast forests of the Merode."
