Tomberg and Dikkebeuk Promenade

Climb one of the highest points in the Meerdaal Forest, the Tomberg, at an altitude of 102.5 m. Archaeologists have found several flint (flint) utensils. The name of the place itself refers to a burial mound. is one of the highest points in the Meerdaal Forest. On this Tomberg, the forest law was pronounced until the end of 1600. A small building was even erected here to sit this courtyard.

With a circumference of 5m10, this 240-year-old thick beech is the thickest beech in the Meerdaal Forest. Every year, the circumference of this tree increases by three centimeters. For comparison: the thickest oak in the Meerdaal Forest has a circumference of 5m60 in 2012. The circumference of the tree is measured at a height of 1.50 meters.
