Anton Van Wilderodepad

Anton Van Wilderode (1918-1998) was a translator, essayist but above all a popular and prolific Flemish poet whose verses almost constantly reach a high level.
Many Flemings see it as a monument.
Of himself, he says, "I am an ordinary person."

Beersel awarded him honorary citizenship in 1990.
The starting points with our municipality are spread over time and throughout the territory: between his first encounter with Alsemberg where he came on pilgrimage from Moerbeke-Waas by bike at the age of 14 in the Onze-Lievevrouwekerk and the recent publication of the bibiographical collection "Een plek van louter klaarte", whose paper was recovered in the Herisemmolen, There have been many literary and other contacts with the congregation.
