A large route path of 266 km runs through the province of Walloon Brabant: the GRP 127, Tour du Brabant Wallon. We gratefully make use of the yellow-red markers during this green journey.

Dion-le-Mont, a part of Chaumont-Gistoux, is located in the heart of Walloon Brabant, just a stone's throw from Wavre. From a tourist perspective, this region is considered part of the 'Brabant Ardennes.' The area may not be very well known to many of us, but it offers a great variety of landscapes. Forested plots alternate with agricultural fields, which in turn are interrupted by picturesque small villages and sunken roads. Two watercourses, the 'Train' and the 'Pisselet,' traverse the landscape before flowing into the Dijle at the former Abbey of Florival in Grez-Doiceau. Along the way, you also cross several meadows with sometimes very narrow passages, where you are completely immersed in nature.

The route

Parking Rue de la Cure, Dion-le-Mont (V). Bus: TEC line E Wavre-Perwez – stop Dion-Valmont Sarthe, (1 km via Rue de la Sarthe) – not on Sundays. Leave parking RA, past the church. Follow the yellow-red markers of the GRP 127 (regional GR) for 2.5 km. 100 m further, turn right onto the narrow path Sentier de la Grippelotte. Cross the road (steep embankment!) - right. Past the stream the Pisselet (1), cross the gravel road, followed by a steep climb. At the T, turn right onto the gravel road. After 50 m, turn right again (asphalt). At the next T, turn left. At the concrete path, turn right and 80 m further turn left onto the cobblestone road. After about 200 m, where you cannot go further, turn right between barbed wire and immediately left (passage) (2). You will now follow a slightly adventurous route through the meadows via sometimes very narrow paths (always GRP). Keep roughly the same direction (look for passages marked with GRP signs). You will come to a little road, with a bridge over the Pisselet (1) on the left. Here, turn right briefly and then immediately left, again through the meadow, still in the same direction. After the last passage, we enter the forest. At an X with a wider forest road, turn left (leaving the GRP 127). After 100 m, take the path to the right. At the asphalt road, turn left. Past the bus shelter, turn left onto the cobblestone road. At the T, turn left and 80 m further turn right. The road turns into a beautiful field path. After 1 km, just before house number 46, turn right onto the field path. At the concrete path, turn right and 200 m further, turn left. After 900 m, turn left onto Rue du Cerisier. 30 m past Rue Saint-Roch, take the narrow path to the right. At the asphalt road, turn left and 40 m further at the (busy) main road, turn right. 50 m further, past house number 165, narrow path to the left (Sentier du Moulin d’Inchebroux). At the road, past the former water mill (3), turn left until you cross a small bridge over the river Le Train (4). Briefly turn right and a few meters further turn left (Sentier du Bois des Rys – narrow passage). You will now follow the GRP 127 until the end. Go right through the meadow towards a group of trees and then diagonally right to the next passage. Continue to follow roughly the same direction. You leave the meadows via a small staircase and continue on the narrow path, which turns into concrete. At the busy main road, turn right. 200 m further, cobblestone road diagonally left and immediately after that, asphalt left (Tienne du Chenois). Ignore side roads until you reach a T-junction with a wider road – left. After 100 m, take the narrow path to the left (GRP). At the road, turn right. Those who came by bus, go straight here to the bus stop. Just before the church, turn left into a wide stone staircase. Past the church, you will arrive at the parking lot.
