This beautiful walk takes you along the Scheldt, through the forested area around the "Fort of Steendorp" and past the "clay pits of the Gelaagpark" to the edge of Rupelmonde and back to Steendorp.

Route description

You start at the parking lot of the sports hall "Het Gelaag" in Steendorp, then turn left onto Berkenlaan, right onto Lepelstraat, and 50 meters further left onto Scheldedijk. You continue following Scheldedijk just past the abandoned site of the brick factory, then turn left onto Scouselestraat, following it to house number 52 where you turn right up the slope to Fort Van Steendorp. Here you follow the signposts of the Steendorp Walking Route, passing the Fort, along the Finnish running track, down around a clay pit, and then back up to Kerkhofstraat. Turn right towards Gelaagstraat, which you cross at the height of the Chapel, where you go straight on in Oeverdam, footpath 10. You continue to follow the Steendorp walking route, at the end of footpath 10 you turn right, into Florimond van Goeylaan. There you see a path on your right, back to a sign of the Steendorp walking route. Follow that until you reach Aloïs Roelandtslaan and further straight in Kloosterstraat. At the entrance arch of the Scaldiana estate, you turn right into Gelaagstraat, towards “Scheldewerf Rupelmonde NV". Before the sites of the Scheldewerf, turn right and you will be back in Lepelstraat. Then turn left onto Scheldedijk and follow it until you reach Berkenlaan, where you leave Scheldedijk. Then turn into Berkenlaan, then right onto Sparrenlaan until you reach the starting point of the walk, the parking lot of Sports Hall "Het Gelaag". Not accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.
