This walk takes you through four picturesque villages of the merging municipality of Kruisem. Along rural roads and narrow paths, you travel from village to village, through wide landscapes with breathtaking views, reaching the scan line of Ghent and overlooking the Scheldt valley.

Directions

You start at the square in front of De Griffel, the Community Center in Ouwegem, where the statue of the girl with the flute stands. This refers to the history of the slave trade, in which the freed slaves were greeted in procession, preceded by a person announcing their arrival with a flute signal.

With your back to the cultural center, take a few steps left onto the Ouwegemsesteenweg and then turn right into the Molendamstraat. Continue straight ahead and proceed via the walking path (Diepepad). At the end of this path, turn right and follow the Hagepreekpad to the Lange Aststraat. A bit further to the left, turn towards Mullem and follow the Korte Aststraat until you reach the center. Follow the Mullemstaat, which soon turns into a path, that you follow until you reach the Driesstraat. There, turn right and a bit further on, turn left onto the walking path (Liekerkepad). Follow this path until the end and you reach a road (Ledepontweg). Turn right towards Lede Dorp. Follow this road until you see the inner road to your right and enter it. At the end, turn left and take the Rechemstraat. This becomes a field road and then a path. At the end of this path, turn right onto the Wannegemstraat, then turn left onto Keitelstraat and a bit further turn right onto the gravel road (Molenstraat). Continue until you reach the mill and turn right onto the path. At the end of this path, turn left onto the Wannegemstraat and follow in the direction of Huise. Follow Huiseplein until it turns into Lange Aststraat. There, turn left onto the path by the house number 1. At the end, you will enter Molenstraat and take the right walking path, until you reach a concrete road (Lindestraat) and turn left there. At the end, turn right (Heirentstraat) until you reach Ouwegemsesteenweg, then turn right again until you return to the starting point.
