In 2016, Natuurpunt carried out major works to restore the unique hay meadows in the Arendonkse Hooyput. In the area there are normally rare wild orchids, but due to the neglect of the greenery, the flowers no longer had a chance. Natuurpunt has turned the piece of nature back into a picturesque scene for hikers. And we move on to

The Goorken

This beautiful piece of nature is located next to the River Wamp. As can be deduced from the name, this is a swampy area. The paths are very walkable, although boots may be recommended in rainy weather.

There is an information board at the Asselbergen. When you enter the nature reserve along that side, you will come across a watchtower after a few tens of meters. Since the tower is only twelve meters high, you cannot look over the trees. Nevertheless, it is nice to go to the top and enjoy the view. Near the watchtower is a picnic bench.
