The GVO Tour

The GVO residential care group is a residential care network of ten independent institutions for the elderly throughout West Flanders. Both in their own environment and in our residential care facilities, seniors in need of care can rely on our knowledge and expertise.

GVO supports and guides facilities in expanding their own operations and offerings. With a highly developed vision on innovation in care, ethics of care and dementia, we want to provide an appropriate answer to every question.

On Saturday, May 6, 2023, GVO organizes a cycling event consisting of "The Tour of GVO" (200km) and 5 small rounds of about 50km.

The GVO Tour passes through all GVO facilities, the smaller towers (GVO1 to GVO5) pass through one or more GVO facilities.

The Tour of GVO starts at the Kortrijk headquarters and first passes through Sint Vincentius Kortrijk. Via the Leie it goes to SAMEN Zorgdorp Wakken and De Zonnewende Meulebeke. The route then passes through the GVO central kitchen and then goes from the SAMEN campus in Tielt via Amphora Wingene to Het Laar in Zwevezele. By small roads without traffic, the route passes through Klaverveld in Zedelgem and lunch can be taken at Elisabeth aan Zee in Ostend.

From Ostend to Middelkerke, the route continues along the sea on the dike. Then via the Plassendale Canal, the Ganzenpoot to Nieuwpoort and the Plassendale-Dunkirk Canal towards Veurne after which the road passes Sint Anna Bulskamp-Veurne. Via the Lo Canal and the Ypres-Yser Canal, the road passes through the Ypres Front (World War I) with Tyne Cot Cemetery as an outlier.

The route then passes through Sint Jozef Moorsele and finally reaches the GVO headquarters via Hoog Kortrijk.
